Having issues with my picture program. I will get those photos up sometime tomorrow. Sorry...

Well it's finally June by calender standards but definitely not temperature wise. Yesterday we had high NEAR 50 and last night temperatures drop to 37 degrees! Burr!!!!! I guess sooner or later it will have to get warm.... I hope! Fishing on the Lake continues to be good for Brown Trout & small steelies in close. King fishing continues to be decent but not great yet. Kings are being found in 80 FOW and deeper. Fishing was a little tough this weekend due to wind and waves but Saturday was the best day to get out there if you were here. I will upload some photos that I have on the camera later this evening. One other quick note.... If you see Johnny today, wish him a Happy Birthday!!!

The new photo of the week is a spring King caught by my cousin Jeff Sissick from PA while he was out fishing with Johnny on Lake Ontario last Friday! I will have a lake report tomorrow evening after Johnny returns from his trip with Capt. Ron.Until 9:00 PM today, 1,150 CFS
From 9:00 PM today until 9:00 AM Fri, 750 CFS
05.15.2009
Well Johnny was out on the lake to do a little fishing with his friend Jeff Sissick from PA. They managed to have a banner day hooking kings, steelies, and browns. They only took a picture of the one salmon they kept. All other fish were quickly released. They found kings in 95 - 140 FOW. They started the day with browns in close on the planer boards but as the morning went on they drifted out deeper to find the kings and steelies. Blue and silver spoons were the hot color off of the riggers. The next 2 days look pretty nasty and probably won’t be able to get out on the lake. Johnny is hoping to be back out the water on Monday. I'll have a report in a couple of days. Until then...Until 9:00 PM today, 750 CFS

Fishing on the lake with Robert Finger was fantastic today. It was a day for Kings, Browns, Lake Trout, & Steelies. The biggest king today weighed in at 16 lbs! Fish were caught on the riggers, planer boards, and the lead core. Fish were caught in 55 - 95 FOW. Blue and Silver stick baits worked the best. We will not be on the water tomorrow but we are hoping to head out on the lake on Friday. Until then...
05.13.2009
Well, we took our maiden voyage on the boat yesterday evening with Chris and Tiny looking for some brown trout and hoping everything worked well. After a few minor difficulties we were able to hook into a couple of browns and one lake trout. The evening before in the Oswego Harbor on the drift boat, it was pretty much uneventful. They managed 2 small browns and lost a few others. Most of the action was before dark. We will be out on the lake with Robert Finger and his friend Brian today. I'll have a report this evening on how it went. Until then...Until 9:00 PM Thurs MAY 14, 750 CFS
05.09.2009
Well all I have to say is... KINGS, BROWNS, & STEELIES. They managed to have a pretty good day on the lake today after a slow start. Today the boated the first king of the year and it was a nice one weighing in at 15 lbs. Brown trout fishing slowed down and they ended up moving out into 40 - 120 FOW. Fish were scattered around but they are out there. Steelies and browns were caught off of the planer boards and the kings were caught off the riggers down 20 - 55 FOW. Stingers were the choice bait for today. They did have a charter tomorrow but with the high winds and big waves it looks like it is a "no-go". If the weather decides to calm down and they can get out, I'll have another report tomorrow. If not, it looks like Johnny will be back out on the river with Ken Cestone on Tuesday.
05.09.2009
Johnny was out with Ken yesterday and it was a slow start. Ken did manage to go 3 for 5 on the bobbers and egg sacs. They fished a section in the middle river. There were quite a few anglers around yesterday and they were also able to hook into some fish. I'll have a lake report this afternoon.Until 9:00 PM Mon MAY 11, 750 CFS
04.25.2009
Well yesterday was another banner day on the lake. It was basically non-stop action for everyone on the Double Trouble Baha with Johnny and Captain Ron. All fish were caught in 7 - 12 FOW with the Planer boards working the best. I've uploaded all pictures from both days. You can see by the one photo that with all the non-stop action there wasn't even time to eat a doughnut. They also were able to fight doubles and triples! If your looking for a charter give us a call, to think, this is only the begining of lake fishing!!! Well the water in the Salmon River went down yesterday and things also picked up in the river from top to bottom with the drop-back steelhead fishing. We received T-storms last night and the water went down again to 750 c.f.s..... look for some awesome river fishing this week and next week. I’ll have another report tomorrow evening. Until then…Until 8:00 PM today, Sat, 750 CFS
04.03.2009
Here's the pictures from yesterday and the one picture I forgot to put up of Johnny when he was out trolling the lake with Tiny. I will have another report in a couple of days...Caution! – Due to current weather conditions and potentially significant runoff from uncontrolled parts of the watershed, flows may change drastically from this forecast and special operations might be required. Please be alert for local warnings and use extreme caution near the river.
Until 8:00 PM Sat APR 04, 1,800 CFS
04.02.2009
Johnny was out with Robert Finger today trolling for brown trout on Lake Ontario. Needless to say it was tough. They boated 5 browns and lost another 4 on the riggers. They fished between Mexico Point and the Salmon River and found the fish in the warmest, dirty water. One interesting fact about the fish they caught... most of the browns have been river browns that have dropped back into the lake from the rivers and creeks. Only a couple silver ones so far. I have some pictures from today which I will upload tomorrow afternoon. We will not be out on the water the next few days. Until then...Until 7:59 PM Sat APR 04, 1,800 CFS
03.22.2009
Johnny was out with Jeff and John Kusmit yesterday and boy does the fishing get tougher and tougher. They started off in the DSR and then headed to mid river. They managed to land 2 fish on the bobbers and egg sacs. There were a lot of anglers around and probably the increase in water flows didn't help in getting the fish active. A friend of ours was fishing upper river and also had a tough go at it. He managed to hook a few fish but that was basically it. We will be off the river the next few days. I hope to have another report early this week. Until then….
03.19.2009
Well Johnny was out with Ken Cestone today and it was another tough day in the lower river. Ken managed to land 3 steelies and had a few others on. They fished from the Glide to the Meadow. The water level was a little higher today than it was when Johnny was out with Steve. All fish were caught on the bobbers and egg sacs. The Pineville gage is currently at 1620 c.f.s. and slowly rising due to snow melt. Looks like the action is in the middle and upper sections of the SR from the reports I have been hearing with the upper river producing the most fish but also has the heaviest fishing pressure. Johnny will be off the river tomorrow but will be back out on Saturday. I will have another updated report then. Until then...Until 9:00 PM Fri MAR 20, 1,150 CFS
03.17.2009
Well Johnny was out with Steve Searle and what a tough day on the river. I think this was Steve’s first slow day all year! And to think he “only” hooked 9 fish! First, they were going to fish some of the smaller creeks around the area but after looking at the Pineville gage they noticed the water was down to 1500 c.f.s. So they decided to head to the SR. In the morning the fish were not cooperating but by the afternoon, they found some fresh steel. They managed to land 4 steelies and lost another 5 on the Centerpin and floats. Due to run-off from melting snow, they said the water was extremely cold. Temperatures made it up into the low 60's today but a cold front is coming along tomorrow afternoon with some passing showers. Johnny will be back out on the river with Glen Stirling tomorrow. I'll have a report on how they did tomorrow evening. Until then....... Not sure what is going on with the water flow on the SR since Pineville is still reading 1540 c.f.s. and the flow cast has posted Until 9:00 PM Thu MAR 19, 1,800 CFS
03.13.2009
Well here's the rest of the report from yesterday.... While Johnny was out with John and Rick, they hooked up with a little fishing buddy. This small deer followed them around for a while and was basically right next to them. He was checking out their fishing rigs and also hung around to see a steelie being caught. In the last picture, check out it's hair standing up. Johnny touched her back with the bobber! I have 2 videos also. I will get them up early tomorrow. Hope you enjoy them!
03.12.2009
Johnny was out with John and Rick from NH and what a tough day on the river. After postponing the trip from yesterday, today wasn't much better. Cold temperatures, wind, slush, and dirty high water turned the fish right off today. They did manage to land a steelie and lost another smaller fish but that was it on the bobbers and egg sacs. They decided to call it a half of day after there was no improvement in the fishing conditions after 4 hours. I do have more to add to add to this report about their new "fishing buddy" but I have run out of time. I have 2 short videos and a couple of pictures that you will enjoy. I will get them up later tomorrow afternoon after I get home from work. Until then...
03.06.2009
Johnny was out on the river today with his friend Darin Young from Freeland PA and Darin managed to land his first steelhead. Darin, who has never been up here fishing before, called mercy after 1 1/2 hours due to the wrong boots and very cold feet. At least during the time he was out this afternoon he landed one 8 lb. steelie and had a few others on. All fish were caught on the bobbers and egg sacs. There were a lot of fishermen out today enjoying the warmer temperatures throughout the whole river. We will not be on the river this weekend but will be back out on Monday. I'll have another report Monday evening. Don’t forget to “Spring” your clocks ahead tomorrow night before you go to bed! Until then...
03.05.2009
Johnny was out with Ken Cestone today and all I can type is WOW! Ken managed to land 18 steelies (5 small ones) and lost another 11. It was a day of no-stop action and very few people around. All fish were caught on the bobbers and egg sacs. A lot of the fish were around the 10 – 12 lb range. Temperatures made it up into the low 40's and 50's are in the forecast for tomorrow with rain showers. Johnny will be out later tomorrow for a couple hours with his friend Darin Young from Freeland PA. Darin, who is currently ranked #1 in Darts in the United States, will be trying out steelhead fishing for the first time. I'll have a report tomorrow evening on how they did. Until then...
02.28.2009
Johnny was out with Paul Fisher from NY and it was an okay day despite the cold temperatures. Paul managed to go 8 for 11 on a half days effort with 3 of the fish too small for pictures. All fish were caught on the bobbers and egg sacs. Temperatures only made it up to 21 degrees after a start of 9 degrees!! What a difference a day makes! Slush was a problem this morning so they waited until noon to start. The fish were a little sluggish and were not hitting too well but as you can see by the pictures, there are still fresh fish coming in. I'll have another report in a few days. Until then...
02.26.2009
Johnny was out with Ken Cestone today and it was another great day on the water. Ken managed to land 11 steelies ( 3 small ones) and lost another 9. All fish were caught on the bobbers and egg sacs. Today temperatures warmed into the low 40's after an overnight snow / rain mixture. Tomorrow look for temperatures in the upper 40's with more rain showers. Johnny will be back out on the river tomorrow with a half day trip. I'll update this report tomorrow evening. Until then...
02.25.2009
Johnny was out on the river today with Joe Glazewski from Croghan, NY. They started out around 11 a.m. due to the cold overnight and morning temperatures which produced a good amount of slush in the lower river. But by the afternoon, the sun was out, the slush was clearing, & the bite was on! Joe landed 9 nice steelies and lost another 10 in a half day's effort. All fish were caught on the bobbers and egg sacs. Johnny will be back out on the river with Ken Cestone tomorrow. I'll have another report tomorrow evening. Until then...Until 9:00 PM Fri FEB 27, 750 CFS
02.18.2009
Here's the photos from yesterday....
02.18.2009
Sorry, having trouble uploading the pictures fom yesterday's trip. I will get them up this afternoon..... Andrea................................................................2/17/09...
Johnny was out with Ken Cestone today and Ken was able to fight around 18 fish today. Out of the 18 he fought, he landed 4 nice steelies (13 – 14 lbs), & a few small steelies that were too small to have their picture taken. The morning bite was really slow but as the day warmed up, so did the fishing. All fish were caught on the bobbers and egg sacs. Here's the weather for tomorrow:
Wednesday Morning:
Snow showers developing. Temps rising into the 30s. Wind: SE 10-15 mph
Wednesday Afternoon:
Steadier snow arrives; the precipitation may mix with rain toward evening. A trace to 3" of accumulation. High in the mid 30s. Wind: SE 10-20 mph. I will have another report in a few days. Until then... Until 9:00 PM Thu FEB 19, 500 CFS
From 9:00 PM Thu, until 9:00 PM Fri, 750 CFS
02.11.2009
Johnny was out with Andrew Bartlett, a Dairy farmer from Norwich NY today and it was a good day on the Salmon River. Andrew went 5 for 10 on the floats and egg sacs. Andrew hooked and landed his very first centerpin steelhead today! Way to go Andrew! Fishing was good this morning but slowed down in the afternoon as the water was coming up and turning off color. A good amount of snow has melted. Temperatures made it up into the low 50's with rain showers in the afternoon. Look for falling temperatures and gusty winds for tomorrow. Here's the weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow......
Wednesday Night:
Showers, perhaps a thunderstorm. Temperatures holding in the 40s close to 50. Wind: SE-SW 10-20 mph
Thursday:
Very windy with rain showers. The rain will change to snow in the afternoon. Temperatures dropping into the 30s. Wind: W 20-40 mph with gusts past 50 mph...... Johnny will be off the river for a few days. I will have another update tomorrow. Until then...
02.10.2009
Johnny was out with Ken today and it was another today day in the lower end of the SR. Ken landed 5 steelies and 1 brown. He fought a few other small ones and lost another 1/2 dozen more. Covering a lot of water was the key to getting into fish. All fish were caught on the bobbers and egg sacs. There were also a lot of anglers around today enjoying the good weather. Johnny will be back on the river tomorrow with Andrew Bartlett, I'll have a report tomorrow evening on how they did. Until then...
02.09.2009
Johnny was out with Ken today for a half day of fishing and the fishing was tough. Ken managed to go 4 for 9 with a nice 14+ lber getting away before they were able to get a picture! All the hits today were soft hits. All fish were caught on the bobbers and egg sacs. The fishing pressure was heavy which probably didn't help the bite either. Looks like a February thaw is on the way... Monday Night:
Increasing clouds. Low temperatures in the mid 20s, but temps should rise into the 30s around daybreak.
Tuesday Morning:
Mostly cloudy skies with the chance of a few showers. Temperatures rising into the upper 30s.
Tuesday Afternoon:
Cloudy skies with the chance of a shower, best chance for rain will be early in the afternoon. A mild day with a high in the upper 40s. Wind: SE 7-14 mph. Wednesday:
Clouds mixed in with some sun early in the day, best chance for widespread showers in the afternoon. Near record warmth with a high around 60. Wind: SSE 6-12 mph. Johnny will be back on the river tomorrow with Ken. I'll have another report tomorrow evening. Until then...Until 9:00 PM Thu FEB 12, 750 CFS
02.02.2009
Johnny was out with Steve Searle today and it was a great day on the river. Steve started out with dark steelies and browns. By the end of the day, the steelies were all fresh. Steve had over 30 fish on (landing wasn't Steve's high point today) and landed less than half. A good amount of small steelies were also around today. All fish were caught on the Centerpin and egg sacs. Johnny will be off the river the next 3 days but will be back out with Ken Cestone on Friday. I'll have another report Friday when they get off the river. Until then...
01.25.2009
Here are a few more pictures of the ice wall, slush, and shelf ice that was on the lower end of the river on Friday....Until 8:59 PM Mon JAN 26, 500 CFS
01.24.2009
Here are the pictures from yesterday. I also added some pictures of the shelf ice that is on the river. Be careful if you are standing on it to fish. What a difference a day makes... Yesterday temperatures were in the mid to upper 30's and today they are in the low teens! Burrrrrrrrr!!!
01.13.2009
Johnny was out on the river with Ken Cestone and it wasn't too bad for 7 hours of fishing. Ken managed to land 12 steelies, 1 Brown, and lost another 7. Sorry, 2 of the pictures (1 was of a brown trout) were blurry. The slush was present all day long but the fish were feeding. Johnny took a few pictures to show how the shelf ice is extended out and the slush on top of the water. All fish were caught on the bobbers and egg sacs. Today temperatures made it up into the low 30's but the snow, wind and cold blew in around 6 p.m. and the temperatures is free falling as I type this report. They are supposed to get down close to zero. We have postponed our trips for the next couple of days until a later date. I will update this report again in a few days. Very cold with flurries. High only around 10. Wind: WNW 4-8 mph with wind chills to 0 to -5.
01.07.2009
Johnny was out with Steve Searle today and what a day on the river. High winds, snow, sleet and freezing rain started the day off with the bite on the slow side. The winds died down, the fish turned on but the freezing rain, sleet, rain and snow didn't stop. Steve landed 12 fish including 9 steelies, a brown and 2 rainbows. He lost another dozen shortly after the hook set. All fish were caught on the floats while fishing with the centerin. Johnny will be off the river tomorrow. We have 2 friends up fishing. I'll update this report tomorrow. Until then...Until 9:00 PM Fri JAN 09, 375 CFS
